BBC surgeon to speak on prevention and treatment of colorectal ...

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States.
The disease surpasses both breast and prostate cancer in mortality, and second only to lung cancer in numbers of cancer deaths.? Colon cancer is a malignant tumor in the lining of the large intestine.
It starts with a single cell that mutates and grows into a visible polyp, which then may develop into cancer.
Dr. Sridhar Chalasani, colorectal surgeon at Bronson Battle Creek will speak on Wednesday, March 14, at Burnham Brook Center about preventing colorectal cancer.
This educational program is part of the National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month activities with the goal of increasing awareness that colorectal cancer is largely preventable, treatable, and beatable. ?
The program is part of Senior Health Partners? ongoing ?Aging Well? series, which is free to the public.
A light luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by Dr. Chalasani?s presentation at noon.
Seating is limited. For reservations call toll free 1-877-462-2247.
?Even though colorectal cancer is highly preventable, it is estimated that more than?51,000 people will die of the illness this year,? says Dr. Chalasani. ?It is also one of the most easily prevented cancers because it can develop from polyps that can be removed before they become cancerous. Because many people are embarrassed to talk about this disease, there are many myths about colorectal cancer that need to be refuted. An almost equal number of men and women are diagnosed each year.?
Physicians agree that if a polyp is allowed to remain in the colon it can grow into a cancerous tumor that can invade other organs.
Since polyps take about three to seven years to become cancerous, prevention means stopping this process by removing them before they become cancerous.
Found in the early stage of becoming cancerous, surgery, sometimes in conjunction with radiation and chemotherapy, can address the cancer before it can spread.
Research shows that early detection is the real key to preventing and eliminating colorectal cancer. Regular screenings, a more healthy diet, and regular exercise can go a long way toward lowering your risk of colorectal cancer.
Senior Health Partners, a community partnership of Bronson Battle Creek, CentraCare, Region 3B Area Agency on Aging, and Summit Pointe, works to expand wellness and educational offerings to senior citizens in Calhoun and surrounding counties.

Strip club spammed us with texts, lawsuit alleges

By Ari Odzer, NBCMiami.com

Love them or hate them, strip joints have a timeless allure ? but that didn?t stop one club from adopting a new strategy to lure men inside.

?It was harassment, it was constantly, every single day for awhile, sometimes more than once a day,? Bret Lusskin said.

He is talking about spam text messages he says he got from Tootsie?s Cabaret in Miami Gardens.

See video, read the original story at NBCMiami.com

?There?s no way to stop it, you just start getting text messages every single day and what are you gonna do?? Lusskin asked. ?Something has to be done, and clearly they just unrepentantly took advantage of people that night, they never told anybody that it was a marketing ploy.?

Lusskin is the lead plaintiff in a class-action lawsuit filed against the club?s parent company, alleging that Tootsie?s ?surreptitiously obtained? dozens of cell phone numbers from patrons by holding a contest. The winner received a Rolex. Participants just had to fill out a form and include their cell number.

?We allege that they advertised the watch in order to lure people into providing their cell phone numbers,? said attorney Scott Owens, who filed the suit.

Within days, Lusskin said, he started receiving the text ads. Over more than a year, he got more than 280 in all.

?I didn?t win anything, all I did was get freaking hundreds of text messages,? he said. ?I would not have signed if it had told me that I was going to be getting bombarded by text message solicitations from them.?

The lawsuit alleges that what Tootsie?s did violates federal law, specifically the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which stipulates a $500 fine for every violation.

?With the 280 messages times a hundred people times $500 per message, you?re talking in excess of $10 million for this class action lawsuit,? Owens said.

Tootsie?s refused to comment on the issue. The club?s lawyer told NBC 6 it is company policy never to comment on pending litigation.

His court filings make clear that he does not think the suit has any merit. In them, he writes repeatedly that the defendants deny the allegations.

NBC 6 had no luck trying to bring a camera anywhere near the club, even while standing on public property nearby.

?Uh, you can?t point it at the front door, guys,? said a man in a suit who walked up to NBC 6?s team. He stood in front of the camera to block the shot.

If you text, there is a good chance you have received text spam, such as the junk cars message that is currently going around.

Priscilla Perez says her 12-year-old son got a text from Tootsie?s.

?I got mad, actually, and I felt like he was being violated,? she said. ?How do you send him this message, 12 years old, come to Tootsie?s??

Owens says if you get a junk text, do not respond to it. Instead, save it for evidence, and call the Federal Communications Commission to report it.

Lusskin said his texts from Tootsie?s stopped only after he sued the club.

?As we?ve seen in this case, it can get out of control, so someone has to stand against that tide before it turns into email spam, where it just proliferates to the point that text messaging is just useless,? he said.

How To Refinance Real Estate Investments - Best Mortgage Rate ...

Instead of selling real estate investments, why should you consider refinancing them? You may have owned a rental property for years and you want to cash in on that equity because you have paid down the mortgage and the value is up. You will do better to refinance. Why is that?

In selling, there are two problems. First, paying a large capital gains tax is what selling means. If you reinvest through a 1031 exchange then you can avoid this but then the point is, you would want your money, right? Second, you?ll be giving up your inflation-indexed retirement plan. A good rental property generates more income as rents go up.

Refinancing Real Estate Investments Is Better

You can get much of your gain out of the property if you refinance and you don?t have to pay a penny in taxes. In fact, it is not a taxable event to borrow money. You can still keep your rentals even if you take your loan proceeds and spend them any way you want. That does sound better than losing a big chunk of your equity to taxes, doesn?t it.

Let?s now look at an example. Perhaps a small apartment building is what you have owned for several years. What if you bought it for $340,000 with a down payment of $80,000? During that time, interest rates were at 9.5% and this gives you a payment of $2,106 monthly on the balance of $260,00 (30 year amortization).

Now, the property is worth $560,000 and you owe $220,000. Your cash flow is around $2000/month. Question is, how do you get at some of that equity? If you sell, you will pay a bit part of the profit in taxes and you will also give up the income. But if you refinance, what happens?

If a bank will loan you 70% of the value, that would be $392,000. You are left with $172,000 if you pay off the first mortgage. There are no taxes due and you can spend it any way you want.

When interest rates are low, then it gets even better. Your new payment will be $2,295 if the new interest rate is 6.5%. In other words, you still have over $1,800 cash flow each month from an inflation-indexed retirement plan and you get $172,000 to spend any way you want.

An even better scenario is this one. For high-return upgrades to the property such as carports and a laundry room, spend $50,000 of the loan and raise the rents. You could have a higher cash flow than before as well as have $122,000 leftover to spend any way you want. That does sound better than selling your retirement plan, doesn?t it. In case you want that cash, then refinancing real estate investments is what you should consider.

Chris Brown accused of 'robbery by snatching'

By Natalie Finn, E! Online

Chris Brown can't have his "Birthday Cake" and a free pass, too.

A woman has accused the controversial Grammy winner, who's on probation until 2014 for hitting Rihanna, of grabbing her iPhone out of her hand outside a Miami nightclub last Sunday -- and taking off with it!

Miami Beach Police confirm to E! News that an incident report was filed and the Florida State Attorney's Office is preparing a warrant for Brown's arrest on suspicion of "robbery by sudden snatching."

Yikes! Why in the world would he supposedly swipe another person's phone?

More from E: The-Dream on Rihanna and Chris Brown's polarizing remix collab: "It was Rih's idea"

Per the police report, Christal Spann saw Brown leaving Cameo in Miami Beach from a side exit, then approached Brown's Bentley and took a photo of him inside the car.

Afterward, Spann claims, Brown reached out the window and grabbed the phone from her hand, saying, "B----, you ain't gonna put that on no website." Then, the report states, he rolled up the window and took off.

Chris Pizzello / AP file

Brown's latest snafu comes on the tail end of a random feud with WWE star CM Punk, who first got into it with Brown over Twitter and then posted a video clarifying that he didn't mean to kick up controversy--because Brown already did that himself.

"I have no need for a PR team to tell me what to tweet or when to delete tweets," the wrestler said. "And I don't hit women ... In my world, women are to be revered and respected, and I firmly believe that in this life there are consequences and repercussions for people's actions. I don't think Chris has paid for what he's done."

Brown's been getting glowing probation reports since pleading guilty to felony assault and accepting his sentence, so it would behoove him to explain this situation before the police's investigation into what happened turns into anything more.

Apple patent application points to DJ-like beat matching, pairs iTunes with fist pumps

Once upon a less digital time, there existed the art of the mixtape: a tedious labor of love that required timing, taste and a penchant for musical progression. No longer in this iTunes-era, where personally curated song collections that once served as the background to our lives can now be automated by our dear friends in Cupertino. And, based on a patent application filed back in August of 2010, those Apple-made robo-playlists could get even smarter and slicker, with your perennially hip, millennial compadres being none the wiser. According to the claims covered, "an electronic device" (insert Mac or iOS product here) would be able to locate and interpret beats from a preceding AAC, MP3 or WMA file and crossfade them into those of the following track. In other words, it's a virtual disc jockey built into your machine; one that would supercede the currently available DJ feature. Whether or not this Sven Väth-like software will pan out in the company's favor remains to be seen. So, until that fateful day arrives, the creation of those fist-pumping, house mixes is better left to the few, the proud, the orange-skinned.

7 states challenge birth control coverage rule

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) ? Seven states are asking a federal judge to block an Obama administration mandate that requires birth control coverage for employees of religious-affiliated hospitals, schools and outreach programs.

The lawsuit in U.S. District Court of Nebraska alleges that the new rule violates the First Amendment rights of groups that object to the use of contraceptives.

The rule, announced as part of the federal health care law, has come under fire from religious groups that object to the use of birth control. In response to the criticism, Obama administration officials have said they will shift the requirement from the employers to health insurers themselves.

Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning says the proposed change still fails to address their concerns.

Joining the lawsuit are Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas.

Has the battery run out on India's $35 tablet computer?

A "$35" computer launched last year in India as the world's cheapest tablet has run into problems and companies will be invited to bid again to make the device after complaints of poor performance and hiccups rolling out a pilot model.

The government has hailed the Aakash tablet as an achievement of Indian frugal engineering that would end the digital divide in a country where only one in every 10 of its 1.2 billion people use the Internet.

Products such as Apple Inc's iPad are beyond the reach even of many in the fast-growing middle class. The locally assembled machine has a cost price of around $50 and was to be sold to students by the government for $35.

But only 10,000 units have been shipped since October. The relationship between the device's manufacturer, DataWind, and a government research institute soured amid complaints by test users that the processor was too slow, the battery life short and the resistive touch screen hard to use.

The government's Human Resource Development Ministry is due to launch a new tender in the next few weeks to seek partners to build the tablet ? a process that could see DataWind dropped.

"It is not automatic that because you have done phase one you will do phase two," said a senior official at the ministry with direct knowledge of the project.

Datawind won a contract last year to make 100,000 units for the government and it was thought likely it would make the additional 1 million units called for in the second phase of production. But it had lost its first-mover advantage and would face renewed competition for the contract, the official said.

"The feeling is that sufficient interest has been generated to get better specifications at the same or a lower price," added the official, who declined to be named.

A small London-based company, DataWind developed the tablet with the Indian Institute of Technology. The company said the institute had changed the specifications late last year and now wanted a device that could meet U.S. military durability requirement for the same rock-bottom price.

"Among other things that requires the device to take 4 inches an hour of sustained rain," DataWind CEO Suneet Singh told Reuters.

"We objected to it and the project has been on hold since then, we are working with the ministry to get that resolved," Singh said after meeting with ministry officials in New Delhi on Tuesday.

India has a reputation for creating affordable products that are easy to use and sturdy enough to handle its rugged environment ? from Tata Motors' $2,000 Nano car to generic versions of pharmaceuticals.

But despite being a leader in software and IT services, India trails fellow BRIC nations Brazil, Russia and China in the drive to get the masses connected to the Internet and mobile phones, a report by risk analysis firm Maplecroft said last year.

The number of Internet users grew 15-fold between 2000 and 2010 in India, according to another report. Still, just 8 percent of Indians have access. That compares with nearly 40 percent in China.

The Aakash is aimed at university students for digital learning via a government platform that distributes electronic books and courses.

DataWind says it is receiving tens of thousands of orders daily for a commercial version of the tablet with a built-in GPRS modem that is due to be launched this month for 2,999 rupees ($61).

Here would be the issues that we believe will often create a worst situation scenario with regard to commercial loans in the event that all five can be found: (1) Coping with an unskilled commercial financial advisor; (2) Utilizing a lender that historically comes with an unacceptable background for effectively completing commercial loans; (3) Acquiring business financing which includes a remember option for that lender; (4) Unacceptable and non-competitive company loan conditions; and (5) Short-term financing when a borrower isn?t also offered the chance to lengthen to some longer-term time period.

Our main advice would be to totally prevent circumstances exactly where all 5 factors exist simultaneously. A supplementary recommendation would be to also look for alternative funding for commercial loans whenever either from the first 2 elements can be found. There could be many operating capital administration scenarios where it will likely be impractical to prevent all the issues described within the preceding section.

It is essential for business people to safe commercial financing that is not influenced by the most detrimental case problems. Business proprietors will topic themselves in order to inappropriate company financing conditions for many years if they don?t take suitable action prior to they complete commercial loans. You will find two points that ought to be stressed.

Our very first point is actually that loans are probably more difficult than recognized by the majority of commercial debtors. There are numerous additional severe commercial financing obstacles past those noted with this brief post. Because of the, it is essential for industrial borrowers to not narrowly concentrate on the factors contained in the worst situation scenario talked about here and just avoid these types of specific problems.

A well balanced analysis of both worst situation aspects along with other critical company finance terms is important for thorough working funds financing. The significance of this particular overall perspective is the reason why we stressed the crucial nature associated with avoiding each inexperienced agents and loan companies.

Second, the most detrimental case situation for loans described above is completely avoidable. But to prevent an hurdle, it is crucial you have a working knowledge of what you?re avoiding, what it appears like and any kind of special techniques necessary to evade this. For instance, if you?re driving a vehicle, it is good sense that you?ll not deliberately drive your automobile over razor-sharp pointed items that will probably puncture your own tires.

With commercial loans as well as commercial property loans, the mixture of the 5 factors mentioned previously in the following paragraphs will usually produce a direct effect for small company funding that is the same as much worse than puncturing the tire. Regrettably, without correct advice as well as knowledge, most business people won?t be prepared to identify the appropriate indicators for staying away from business funding hazards.

In this short article we centered on problems with small company financing which will almost also have long-lasting as well as immediate damaging results for business people. Commercial borrowers shouldn?t overlook the large number of other serious issues with commercial loans past those referred to. As using the circumstances mentioned above, the majority of the other potential problems with business loans may also be avoided.

For car buyers, it's harder to end up with a lemon

(AP) ? Car shoppers today are less likely to end up with a lemon.

In the past five years, global competition has forced automakers to improve the quality and reliability of their vehicles ? everything from inexpensive mini-cars to decked-out luxury SUVs.

The newfound emphasis on quality means fewer problems for owners. It also means more options for buyers, who can buy a car from Detroit or South Korea and know it will hold up like a vehicle from Japan.

With few exceptions, cars are so close on reliability that it's getting harder for companies to charge a premium. So automakers are trying to set themselves apart with sleek, cutting-edge exterior designs and more features such as luxurious interiors, multiple air bags, dashboard computers and touch-screen controls.

"It's a great time to be a consumer," says Jesse Toprak, vice president of industry trends for the TrueCar.com auto pricing website. "You can't really screw up too badly in terms of your vehicle choice."

It wasn't always this close.

In the 1990s, Honda and Toyota dominated in quality, especially in the key American market for small and midsize cars. Japan began building high-quality small cars and tapped into America's growing appetite for fuel efficiency in the 1970sWith their sterling reputation, they were able to charge more than Detroit automakers and cut Detroit's U.S. market share from 78 percent in 1980 to just under 43 percent in 2009, according to Ward's AutoInfoBank.

Cars from Detroit generally weren't as trouble-free in the 1980s and '90s. Hyundai executives concede their quality used to be poor.

However, around 2006, as General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC were heading into financial trouble, they realized that people were shifting away from trucks and sport utility vehicles to smaller cars and car-based crossover SUVs. Gas prices were on the rise again, and the companies, which relied on bigger vehicles for their profits, had few cars to offer.

Fearing the shift, Detroit decided to go after the Japanese and shifted research dollars from trucks to cars after years of neglect. Detroit also realized that Hondas and Toyotas were quieter and more reliable, so they spent more on engineering and parts to close the gap.

Meanwhile, Korean automakers Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. were busy redesigning their cars, changing to more cutting-edge looks to boost sales. Then, Toyota's reputation was tarnished by a series of safety recalls, and Honda played conservative with new models that looked similar to the old ones.

The newfound emphasis on quality has closed the gap between best and worst in the industry. In 1998, J.D. Power and Associates, which surveys owners about trouble with their cars after three years, found an industry average of 278 problems per 100 vehicles. By this year, the number fell to 132.

In 1998, the most reliable car had 92 problems per 100 vehicles, while the least reliable had 517, a gap of 425. This year the gap closed to 284 problems.

"We don't have total clunkers like we used to," says Dave Sargent, automotive vice president with J.D. Power. Nearly all automakers are improving in quality, but manufacturers that are at the bottom of the rankings are improving more quickly than those at the top, Sargent said.

Detroit's three automakers have narrowed the quality gap considerably against brands from other countries. In 1998, J.D. Power found 42 more problems per 100 vehicles with GM, Ford and Chrysler cars and trucks. This year the gap had narrowed to just 13. While car prices are still rising, the narrow gap keeps Japanese automakers from charging a premium over rivals with similar models.

The competition helps consumers by giving them more choices and more car for their money.

Some examples:

? Compacts: It used to be that the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic were far better than the rest, and they cost more. But the new Chevrolet Cruze and the vastly improved Hyundai Elantra and Ford Focus are giving consumers more options. The Cruze, which went on sale in 2010, is far better than the car it replaced, the Chevrolet Cobalt. GM sold 231,000 Cruzes last year to pass the Civic for second place and come within 9,000 of the Corolla, the small-car sales leader.

While Corollas and Civics were in short supply following Japan's March earthquake, the Cruze offered a good alternative for people who didn't want to wait. In May, Cruze sales surged 40 percent over the Cobalt's year-earlier sales, besting all rivals to become the top-selling U.S. compact that month. The competition has nearly erased the premium paid for Hondas and Toyotas. But that's largely due to price increases by competitors. Since compacts have more features, people are paying more for the Focus, Elantra and Cruze.

For example, in 2007, Toyota got an average of $15,820 for every Corolla it sold, a premium of $1,708 over what GM charged for a Chevy Cobalt. The average Cobalt sold for $14,112.

But last year the roles reversed. The premium instead went to General Motors, which got an average price of $19,858 for the Cruze, which replaced the Cobalt in 2010. That's $2,028 more than the Corolla at $17,830, according to the TrueCar.com website.

? Midsize cars: Toyota's Camry and Honda's Accord used to be dominant. But Ford's Fusion, Nissan's Altima and Hyundai's Sonata are cutting into their sales. The Camry kept its long-held title as the nation's top-selling car last year, but the Altima and Fusion passed the Accord, which is typically No. 2. The price premium paid for Hondas and Toyotas has nearly vanished in midsize cars as well. Like with small cars, people are paying more because of more standard equipment and options.

"It's very hard to find products that aren't good anymore," says Jeremy Anwyl, CEO of the Edmunds.com automotive website. "In safety, performance and quality, the differences just don't have material impact."

First-year law student Randall Rosales found many good choices last year when he began looking for a small luxury SUV to replace his mother's 2008 Infiniti sedan in Dallas. At 22 years old, he's his family's designated car expert. Unlike previous searches, he's found that every vehicle on his list has similar quality and options.

"It's getting harder to choose because every manufacturer, at least in the luxury class, tends to have all the features we consider essential," Rosales said.

In past searches, some automakers, including those based in the U.S., were behind in features like Bluetooth cell phone links and touch-screen controls, Rosales said. But that has pretty much evened out, he said.

He considered the BMW X3, Mercedes GLK350, Lexus RX 350 and Infiniti EX35 before picking an Audi Q5 because the fuel economy of its turbocharged four-cylinder engine and its interior quality set it apart.

With quality, fuel economy and price close to equal across the U.S. market, companies also are pushing the edge on exterior design to differentiate their cars. Honda, for instance, unveiled a daring new Accord coupe in Detroit that looks like a far more expensive car, while Ford did the same with its new Fusion.

"It's got to be beautiful," says Mary Barra, GM's product development chief who led work on a new Cadillac small luxury sports sedan.

Another way to stand apart is to lower a car's base price, sacrificing profits to gain market share, at least initially.

That's what Chrysler is hoping for with the new Dodge Dart compact, which starts around $16,000, about $700 less than a Cruze and $500 less than the Ford Focus, the Dart's two main competitors.

CEO Sergio Marchionne says the company won't make much money on a basic Dart. But the lower price will get the car on shopping lists, and Marchionne is hoping people will add features and pay more.

Chrysler in the past spent little on compact-car development and hasn't offered a competitive one for years. But being late has its benefits. Chrysler learned by avoiding mistakes made by other companies, says Ralph Gilles, the company's chief designer.

"Coming last to the party, you can bring a nice bottle of wine," he says.

7 time-saving tips for the business traveler - Holy Kaw!

The image of the savvy business traveler brings to mind a consummate professional with perfectly packed suitcase and dressed for the conference room, breezing through the airport with a calm but determined air of efficiency and professionalism, but if that breeze is more like a tornado running for a flight leaving a trail panic in its path, these seven traveling tips from Thanh Pham at Lifehack could help calm things down and keep your focus on the game that is business travel.

1. Smart Packing

Don?t leave packing till the last minute. Your chances of forgetting important documents, chargers and miscellaneous things are very high if you are in a hurry. Give yourself at least 24 hours?

2. Cloud Syncing

It is worthwhile investing some time into having your files and documents synced up through ?the cloud?. This will ensure you will always have access to the latest versions of your documents across all computers. Nothing is more painful than to realize while on the road that the important document you had to print is only available on your desktop computer at home.

A simple solution is Dropbox ? it allows you to store files in the cloud and it supports multiple platforms. And best of all: it?s free.

3. Combat Jetlag

Jetlag can be a huge waste of time. If you are crossing multiple time zones you might have to combat jetlag. Fortunately, it?s quite easy to adjust to new time zones ? just switch time zones the day before or on the day of your travel.

This might mean that you have to stay up longer or go to bed earlier, but it will help you adjust more effectively once you arrive at your destination.

Bipolar drug fixes damaged nerves to restore movement

Sometimes salt is the good guy, in some forms anyway. Lithium chloride ? a salt used as a mood stabiliser in bipolar disorder ? appears to enhance the recovery of damaged neurons in mice. The drug may also help people with damaged nerves regain movement.

Charbel Massaad at Paris Descartes University in France and his colleagues recreated in mice the nerve damage that sports injuries and diabetes can cause in humans. When such damage occurs, neurons lose their myelin sheath ? a coating that insulates the nerve, accelerating electrical impulses. People tend to lose the ability to move limbs as a result. After the mice's facial nerves were damaged, their whiskers became paralysed.

The team put lithium chloride in the rodents' drinking water. These mice completely recovered whisker movement within eight days, compared with mice who drank plain water, who had little movement at 20 days.

A closer inspection of the nerves revealed that myelin sheaths were much thicker in the treated mice.

Massaad hopes the drug will work as well in people: "Lithium could provide a novel, cheap therapy that stimulates myelination," he says.

Iraq's oil exports slightly decline in January

(AP) ? Iraq's oil ministry says oil exports have declined slightly in January compared to the previous month.

Monday's statement says last month oil exports averaged 2.107 million barrels per day, down from 2.145 million barrels per day in December.

The sales grossed $7.123 billion based on an average price of $109.081 per barrel. December's revenues stood at $7.061 billion with an average price of $106.18 per barrel.

The oil was sold to 29 international oil companies.

Iraq relies on oil exports for 95 percent of its revenues, and the uncertainty in the market stemming from the conflict between the West and Iran over its controversial nuclear program has helped support global crude prices.

(AP) ? British heavyweight Dereck Chisora was released Sunday after nearly seven hours of questioning by police following his brawl with former WBA champion David Haye at a post-fight news conference.

A black van carried the boxer and his coach, Don Charles, from police headquarters, speeding past assembled photographers.

"He still faces a charge of simple assault but he is allowed to return to England for now," police spokesman Gottfried Schlicht told The Associated Press.

Chisora and fellow Londoner Haye came to blows after Chisora's defeat by unanimous decision to Vitali Klitschko in their WBC title fight.

Charles also faces a charge of assault for his involvement in the melee. Schlicht said more serious charges were reduced when police were unable to apprehend Haye despite searching for the boxer at his hotel.

Chisora and Charles were detained at Munich airport at 10:30 a.m. and taken for questioning to Munich police headquarters. Chisora was initially held on suspicion of assault, causing grievous bodily harm and of making a threat. Chisora was heard vowing to shoot Haye.

"I swear to God, David, I am going to shoot you. I am going to shoot you. I am going to physically shoot David Haye," Chisora was heard yelling as he claimed Haye hit him with a glass.

Chisora's promoter Frank Warren called the brawl "ugly, horrible and disgraceful" but said it was not his boxer who threw the first punch.

"It was an embarrassment for British boxing," Warren told Sky Sports News. "I would say they were total idiots."

Chisora taunted Haye about losing the WBA belt to Klitschko's younger brother Wladimir last July, leading to a heated exchange before Chisora knocked a bottle out of Haye's hand and they came to blows.

Haye also fought with members of Chisora's entourage, and his coach, Adam Booth, was bleeding from a cut on his head.

Camera equipment went flying and reporters fled before security eventually managed to separate the men and police arrived at the scene.

"You've really lost it this time," Chisora told Haye.

The 40-year-old Klitschko beat Chisora in a bruising bout in which the Ukrainian said he fought from the fourth round with only his right fist after injuring his left shoulder. Klitschko was examined in a Munich hospital on Sunday and later reported a partially torn ligament in his left shoulder.

"I think we all heard excuses about a broken toe," Chisora said before the brawl, referring to Haye's claim after his defeat to Wladimir Klitschko in Germany last July.

Chisora found little support from the sellout crowd of 12,500 after slapping Vitali Klitschko's face at the weigh-in Friday. The ill feelings continued when he spit water in Wladimir's face as his brother's record was being called out before their bout.

"I wanted to knock him out, to be honest," Vitali Klitschko said. "Such a cheek."

Wladimir acted as a buffer as Chisora kept goading them.

Vitali was clearly incensed, but it took some time before he could assert control in the ring against the Briton's aggressive approach. His greater reach and experience made the difference. The judges scored it 118-110, 118-110 and 119-111.

The 28-year-old Chisora said he wanted a rematch, or a bout with Wladimir, who is now the super WBA champion and holds the IBF and minor WBO and IBO belts. The younger Klitschko is to fight next against Jean-Marc Mormeck of France on March 3 in Duesseldorf, Germany.

But the British fighter was not optimistic about a rematch.

"He won't fight me again. I don't blame you. I wouldn't fight me, either," he said.

Klitschko improved his record to 44-2 (40 KOs) after what was perhaps the toughest bout he's had to endure since losing on a technical knockout to Lennox Lewis in 2003.

The Zimbabwe-born Chisora dropped to 15-3 (9 KOs) after his third defeat in his last four fights, but he had the fans in Munich's Olympiahalle worried as Klitschko appeared to tire from his relentless attacks.

Klitschko eventually took control in the ninth round, catching Chisora with a huge right and seemingly picking his punches at will. Chisora was barely hanging on in the 10th.

"He tried it all, but apart from a few grazes I didn't get anything more," Klitschko said.
