Natalie Alejo
MANSON ? This could be a big party.
Organizers are hoping the entire community of Manson turns out. The party is to celebrate the 10th birthday of Natalie Alejo whose family was burned out of their home early Wednesday morning.
The burned house was across the street from Blueberry Hills restaurant, where the party will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Organizers are hoping people bring all sorts of things, from toys to clothing, so the young girl can get her life back to normal.
Kari Sorensen, one of the owners of Blueberry Hills, said the family got out of the rental house with only the clothes on their backs so they need just about everything. An account has been set up for the family at Wells Fargo Bank. Donations of other items can be dropped off at Blueberry Hills restaurant, 1315 Washington St.; KOZI radio, 123 E Johnson Ave, Chelan; and Miniblinds & More, 1114 N Mission St, Wenatchee.
Jose Alejo surveys the damage to the Manson rental home he and his family lived in before fire destroyed it early Wednesday morning.
Heather King, one of the organizers of the birthday party, said the Alejos are staying temporarily at a local hotel.
Flames race through a rental home in Manson early Wednesday morning, consuming all the belongings of Jose and Maria Alejo and their 10-year-old daughter, Natalie.
Sorensen also said that the dog that woke up Natalie?s parents, Jose and Maria, was owned by a Moses Lake relative, and the Alejos were temporarily taking care of it. Natalie was visiting relatives in Moses Lake when the fire broke out. The dog, a black, mixed-breed named Shany, woke the couple ?out of a dead sleep,? Sorensen said.
